What a terrible pity that all parents could not attend our St Patricks Festival Concert as it proved to be a great concert. It was a celebration of some of the talent that’s in the school, from R1 to R6 to the teaching staff – and what talent! It was a celebration of our culture and heritage and it was absolutely great.
R1, R2 & R5 showed their dramatic qualities with some really lovely dramas/musicals while R3, R4 & R5 displayed their versatility with a cross section of traditional songs, poems and instrumental music. The school’s ‘ banna ceoil’, current Feis Átha Cliath champions, took to the stage. They presented a musical arrangement of stunning variety on multiple instruments.
The choir from R 5 & R 6 took to the stage and sang 2 songs from the National Children’s Choir Repertoire beautifully accompanied on piano by an Múinteoir Sadhbh Ní Fhloinn.
And then, the x-factor moment – The Taobh na Coille Ensemble, also known as the Teachers’ Group, took to the stage for the first time! They started off with the beautiful slow air ‘Gleanntán Ghlas Ghaoth Dobhair’ arranged by an Múinteoir Sadhbh Ní Fhloinn for 8 different instruments! (Louis is on the phone lads!)
After that they played a blast of reels, and finished playing the 8 hand reel for rinceoirí from R6! What an amazing celebration of our school, traditions and culture.
A special word of thanks to all the múinteoirí who worked so hard to make seachtain na Gaeilge a success. They displayed massive commitment support and good will in the preparations, and we were all delighted with the result. Go raibh maith agaibh.
