Olympic silver medalist, Annalise Murphy visits Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coillle
Olympic silver medallist, sailor Annalise Murphy paid a visit to Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille on Monday 3rd of April. Clr. Cormac Devlin, Chairperson of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council accompanied her on the visit.
Mr. Devlin spoke about the ‘Try Sailing’ initiative before introducing Annalise to the teachers and pupils of R3 to R6. A short video presentation was shown of Annalise competing for Ireland during the 2016 Brazil Olympic Games before she herself spoke passionately about the sport of sailing.
She was very accommodating and answered all the questions asked of her by the children present. It was striking how humble and modest she has remained despite her success in Rio.
It was a tremendous honour for the school to host Annalise and she left a truly positive impression on all who attended.
