CUMANN NA MBUNCOL – HURLING & CAMOGIE
Both hurling and camogie training commenced at the end of February. The 5th and 6th class boys have been training before school (8:15-8:45am) on Mondays while the girls training takes place after school (2.40-3.20pm) on the same day. The hurlers have very challenging fixtures ahead as they face St. Brigid’s (Foxrock), St. Mary’s BNS (Booterstown) agus Scoil Lorcáin (Monkstown) at the group stages. The camogie team take on old foes St. Olaf’s (whom they beat in the football decider), St. Attracta’s from Ballinteer and Knocklyon’s Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna.
INDOOR HURLING – ANDY GIBBONS CUP – R3
R3A and R3B have been successfully competing in the Corn Andy Gibbons – a regional indoor hurling competition – for the past month. Rang a 3B (under the guidance of An Múinteoir Mac Niallais) topped Group A on an impressive points tally of 48 out of a possible 56, four ahead of nearest challengers Holy Trinity B. Rang a 3A (Ciara Ní Bháille) narrowly lost out by the narrowest of points to St. Mary’s (34 points) and had to settle for 4th spot in the group. Never the less, both teams qualified for the finals which will be played on Thursday 15th. R3B will play the winners of Group B while R3A will play the fourth placed team.
SENIOR LADIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE – INTERVAL MATCH
It is a source of pride for the school that two girls – Zoe Nic Riobaird (R6B) & Ingrid Ní Bhroin (R6A) – were chosen to represent the Dublin Cumann na mBunscol football team to play their Cork counterparts in Croke Park on February 10th. They played during the half time interval of the Senior Ladies Football match involving the before-mentioned counties.

Cumann na mBunscol Football Finals
COMHGHÁIRDEACHAS LE PEILEADÓIRÍ NA SCOILE
A marvellous day was had by the pupils of Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille on Thursday Oct 26th when all our senior pupils went to Croke Park for the Cumann na mBunscol football finals.
The boy’s team played against Scoil Neasáin, Harmonstown in the Corn Mhic Chaoilte competition while the girl’s team competed for the shield in the Corn an Chladaigh competition.
Both teams received a huge welcome when they returned to school with the cup and shield in hand and the pupils were even more delighted to be rewarded with a night off homework!
A huge buíochas to the teachers Maoilíosa Ó Dubhthaigh, Rónán Mac Niallais, Clíona Seoighe and Karl Priestley who give of their time to train the teams and attend matches after school hours.
