Cuairt ó Lauren Nic Aoidh le Corn Brendan Martin

Comhghairdeachas le Foireann Peile na mBan B.Á.C. as Craobh Peile na hÉireann 2017 a bhuachaint. Comhgháirdeachas mór milteach go speisialta le Lauren Nic Aoidh iar-scoláire de chuid na scoile as an sár-imirt a rinne sí do B.Á.C. i bPáirc an Chrócaigh.

 Is deirfiúr í Lauren  le Cillian i R3A & Nathaniel i N2B

Tháinig Lauren isteach ar cuairt chun na scoile le labhairt leis na páistí agus Corn Brendan Martin a thaispeáint dóibh.

Bronntar Corn Breandán Ó Máirtín ar bhuaiteoirí craobh na hÉireann i bpeil na mban, is ionann é agus Corn Sam Mac Uidhir i bpeil na bhfear.   Ainmníodh an Corn in ómós Breandán Ó Mairtín, ón Tulach Mhór i gCo. Ua bhFáilí a d’eagraigh cluichí peil na mban ‘sna seachtóidí luath agus a bhí mar chisteoir ar Chumann Peil Gaelach na mBan ‘sna blianta tosaigh.

Mar comhthárlúint tá beirt ghar-nia agus gar-neach de chuid Breandán Ó Máirtín ag freastal ar Ghaelscoil Thaobh na Coille faoi láthair agus bhíodar thar a bheith sásta an deis a fháil griangraf a ghlacadh le Lauren Nic Aoidh agus corn a sean-uncail.

Deich mbliana ó shin d’imir Lauren i bPáirc an Chrócaigh ar fhoireann Ghaelscoil Thaobh na Coille i gcraobh peile Chumann na mBunscol.

Cá bhfios cé hiad na daltaí atá ag freastal ar an scoil faoi láthair a bheidh ag imirt ar son Bhaile Átha Cliatha amach anseo. Táimid an-bhródúil go deo as ár laoch Lauren.

Lauren Nic Aoidh visits the school with The Brendan Martin Cup

Congratulations to the Dublin team on winning the 2017 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship. Special congratulations to our past pupil Lauren Nic Aoidh on her magnificent performance in Croke Park.

Lauren Nic Aoidh is a sister  of Cillian in R3A & Nathaniel in N2B

Lauren visited the school recently to talk to the children and show them the Brendan Martin Cup.

The Brendan Martin Cup is the name of the cup that ladies gaelic football teams play for in the final of the All-Ireland Senior Ladies    Football Championship, it is the equivalent of the Sam Maguire Cup. The cup is named after Brendan Martin, a native of Tullamore, Co. Offaly, who organised ladies’ football games in the early 1970’s and became one of the first treasurers of the newly founded Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

Coincidentally two of Brendan Martin’s grandnephews and his grandniece attend Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille and they were delighted to get a chance to have their photograph taken with  Lauren McGee and their great-uncle’s cup.

10 years ago in 2007 Lauren played on Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille’s winning team in Croke Park in the Cumann na mBunscol Finals.

Who knows how many of our current  pupils will follow in Lauren’s footsteps and end up playing for Dublin in the future?

We are very proud of Lauren and all that she has achieved.

Maith thú, a Lauren
