School Tour to the Dáil
le hÓdhrán Ó Nuanáin agus Alan Ó Máirtín, R6B
On the 26th of February 6th class went on a school tour to the Dáil. We traveled by Luas into the city centre. We disembarked at Dawson Street.
We visited the Seanad. John, the tour guide, answered our questions, such as how to become a politician, how does the government of Ireland work and where do all the TDs sit. We also visited the Lower House but there was no one in sight as a government is currently being formed. We learned where the Ceann Comhairle, the Chief Whip, the Taoiseach and the Opposition sit during debates.
After that we sauntered over to the playground in St Stephen’s Green.
The weather favoured us and the sun shone down brightly upon us. We returned to the school at 2pm. We were on cloud nine after a wonderful day in the Dáil.
