Applications for Admissions for the 2024/2025 School Year

The school will commence accepting applications for admission for the 2024/2025 school year on 02/10/2023

The school shall cease accepting applications for admission for the 2024/2025 school year 27/10/2023

The date by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application is 17/11/2023

The period within which applicants must confirm acceptance of the offer of admission is 17/11/2023 to 01/12/2023

Everyone interested in attaining a place for their child in junior infants in the 2024/2025 school year must now complete an Application Form for Admission for the 2024/2025 School Year.

Revised Admissions Policy

All schools are legally obliged to implement a new admissions policy from the 01/02/2020 in line with the Education Act and Department of Education & Skills guidelines.

Our school’s Admissions Policy has been revised by the Board of Management in accordance to the guidelines outlined in the Education (Admissions to School Act) 2018.

This review commenced on 1 February 2020 and the enrolment policy that was in place at that time came to an end (Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille Enrolment Policy 2017).

Admission Requirement for Junior Infants

Applicants for junior infants must be at least 4 years of age before the 1st September for the year for which they are applying.

The maximum number of places available in junior infants is 60 in any one school year (2 streams)

Applications for admission to the school will now only be accepted during a specific period in the Autumn prior to the year the applicant wishes to start in the school – no earlier than 01 October.

Pre-enrolment forms will no longer be accepted as was the practice here to fore and the date on which the application was made will not be taken into consideration as a criteria for the allocation of school places.

Oversubscription

In the event that the school is oversubscribed, the school will, when deciding on applications for admission, apply a selection criteria to those applications that are received within the timeline for receipt of applications as set out in the school’s annual admission notice.

1. Children who have attained a  level of fluency in the Irish language in a non-educational environment and that the said fluency  would be likely to regress were the student not admitted to an Irish language school*

2. A sibling** of an existing pupil or of a past pupil.

3. According to age; the oldest child first.

* The onus will be on parents / guardians to provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate to the board the required level of fluency in Irish. See further information in the relevant document available from the school.

**Brothers, sisters, half-siblings, foster sibling or adopted sibling.
