2013-2014
GIRLS FOOTBALL : Corn Chomhar Linn
The girls’ football team, under the stewardship of Múinteoir Eavan Ní Mhuirgheasa and Múinteoir Máire Mhic Gabhann, participated in Corn Chomhar Linn this year.
They were beaten by both Scoil Maelruain (Tallaght) and Our Lady of Good Counsel (Johnstown) in the group stages. Their final group match against St. Attracta’s SNS (Ballinteer) was never played and Cumann na mBunscol awarded the points to the Gaelscoil, which meant that our girls finished third in the group and qualified for the shield quarter finals. They were pitted against a very competitive St. Brigid’s NS from Glasnevin and they were well beaten which ended there participation in the competition.

BOYS FOOTBALL : Corn Chlanna Gael
Forty three boys from Rang a 4 to Rang a 6 took part in the weekly training sessions on the all-weather pitches in Stepaside. An Múinteoir Máirín Ní Dhubhthaigh and an Múinteoir Maoilíosa Ó Dubhthaigh oversaw the training.
The boys lost their opening match against Réalt na Mara (Ringsend). They bounced back with victories over St. Mary’s (Booterstown) and Virgin Mary NS (Ballymun) and finished as Group A runners up.
They were paired against Group D winners, St. Brendan’s BNS (Artane) in a match that was played in Parnell GAA Club in Coolock. The boys from Ballinteer surged into an early and commanding lead thanks to two goals in the opening five minutes. However, St. Brendan dominated much of the play and managed a succession of pointed scores. Our 3-02 v 1.06 half time score flattered us as St. Brendan’s had arguably played the better football in the opening half. The concession of an early goal on the resumption of play put the Gaelscoil on the back foot. Despite playing second fiddle for much of the second half, the opposition were punished for their glaring misses as a late goal and point put the boys from Bellarmine back in the driving seat and some stout and courageous defending secured a 4.05 to 2.09 victory. Their reward was a semi final against Gaelscoil Inse Chóir in Pearse Park, Crumlin. Our boys started with purpose and accuracy from the whistle and moved into a very comfortable half time lead. There dominance continued well into the second half and the concession of some late goals failed to damper the spirits as Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille had reached its 12th Cumann na mBunscol final.
Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin lie ahead in the Croke Park decider. It’s certain to prove a very challenging match for our boys given that Cluain Dolcáin beat Réalt na Mara 5-06 to 0-05 in a one sided semi final, and we lost our opening group match against the same opposition 0.12 to 0.07.
