- Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille is a co-educational catholic All-Irish school.
- The school functions in accordance with the usual rules of the Department of Education & Science.
- Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille is under the Patronage of Foras Pátrúnachta na Scoileanna Lán-Ghaeilge Teo. All children, irrespective of linguistic, social, religious background or nationality are welcome in the school.
- The school has a Catholic ethos. However we welcome children of other beliefs to our school.
- The school is a non-fee paying school which is run with the financial assistance of the Department of Education & Science. However we do encourage parents and friends of the school to participate and support fund-raising events that supplement the costs of development and the day to day running of the school.
- Parents are seen as partners in the mutual education of their children and are very much involved in the development of the school through the Parents’ Association and the Board of Management.
- The school was established by a group of parents in 1995. The school opened its doors on the 4th of September 1995 in the grounds of De La Salle Palmerston Rugby Club in Kilternan, Co. Dublin.
- Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille gained official recognition from the Department of Education & Science in March 1998.
- On the 1st of September 2009 we moved into our permanent school building in Belarmine Estate, Stepaside. This brand new state of the art, two-storey, 16 classroom building is bright and spacious, has big classrooms and proper facilities for children & teachers alike, multi-purpose rooms and an assembly hall.
- The school developed from a single to a double stream school, one extra class a year up until September 2017 when the school became a full two-stream school. There are approximately 460 pupils enrolled in Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille.
