Comórtas Claisceadail na Céime was held for the third year running in Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille on Tuesday 2nd April. This is a choral competition for fourth class. Each choir or ‘claisceadal’ sing 2 traditional Irish songs. The songs are sung unaccompanied, one song in unison & the second in unison or in two-part harmony.

Six choirs from 5 local schools participated in the competition. A class each from St Mary’s NS, Sandyford, Stepaside Educate Together NS, Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua, Our Lady of the Wayside and 2 classes from Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille.  It was a great competition with beautiful and expressive singing to be heard from each choir.

Our adjudicator Maedhbh Uí Chiagáin had the very difficult task of choosing the winning choir and in the end R4A Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille & St Marys were named joint winners of Claisceadail na Céime 2019.
