A wonderful night was had by all on Saturday night in the Stillorgan Talbot Hotel at the school’s Fashion Show. The evening was a resounding success and the atmosphere is the room was truly electric, thanks to the fantastic audience. Everyone involved, from the organising committee, director, stage crew, back stage team, make-up team, models and audience played their part in making the night the success that it was and deserve a huge congratulations and míle buíochas.
It was Sarah McGovern who initially came up with the idea of putting on a fashion show and between herself and Edel Uí Ógáin, Fiona Mhic an tSionnaigh and Julie de Stóic they put their plan into action and set things in motion. The four women with the help and support of a bigger committee of volunteers worked tirelessly over the last couple of months on every aspect of the show; booking & organising the venue, sourcing clothes, getting sponsors, organising raffle prizes, advertising, selling tickets, recruiting models and much much more. They also looked after everything and everyone front of house and backstage on the day. Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh for your hard work and unlimited goodwill.
Colm our caretaker looked after the stage – setting it up in the morning & taking it down again in the evening. He went about his business in his usual efficient way – in and out with little or no fuss. Becky Ní Chonchúir looked after makeup with the help of three 3rd year MakeUp Design students from IADT, Dun Laoire. Barbara Mamaí Mikey (!) our fashion advisor, worked backstage ensuring all outfits were ready, sorted, pressed and in order for the models. She was ably helped by Róisín & Lia (two former pupils of Taobh na Coille). Thanks to all our models – they were all brilliant and so professional.
Taragh Loughrey-Grant did a fantastic job as our MC. Not only did she keep the show going with her wonderful commentary but she keep everyone backstage relaxed and calm with her boundless energy and positivity. There will definitely be no complaints going in to Joe Duffy’s Liveline about her!
Sarah McGovern, organiser, director and an absolute gem. She put so much work and time into the Fashion Show. It couldn’t and wouldn’t have happened without her.
Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh go léir.
