Córfhéile is a non-profit making, voluntary organisation that aims to provide an opportunity for children in primary school to perform in a non-competitive music festival. The children that perform in the Córfhéile do so for the enjoyment of singing, for the love of playing music or participation in a play or drama. Córfhéile is about developing confidence and a feeling of self-esteem for having performed in front of a large audience.
The Córfhéile took place in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght at the beginning of March. More than 4000 children took part over nine separate shows during the week and the sense of achievement that they get from performing and seeing others perform was priceless. The Banna Ceoil Scoile and Daltaí R1 took to the stage on Wednesday evening the 4th of March at 7:30pm. And what a night it was.
The atmosphere in the venue was electric. The venue was packed to capacity with excited children and proud parents. The Banna ceoil played exceptionally well. They had put a lot of hard work and practice into their repertoire and it certainly paid off. Thanks to the teachers who teach & manage the banna ceoil.
This was the first time Rang a hAon have participated in the Córfhéile. The children were so excited and they sang their hearts out when they got up on stage. They sang three songs with gusto; Báidín Fheidhlimí, Beidh Aonach Amárach & Trup, Trup a Chapailín and they recieved a huge clap of appreciation from the audience when they finished.
Buíochas leis na múinteoirí ar fad a d’ullmhaigh na páistí don Chórfhéile.
